War

  • Often fairly dramatic
  • Music will be inspiring or saddening
  • Props often seen are guns, horses, planes/helicopters, first aid/medical kits
  • Men in practically all war films are matched with weapons to make them look strong and show a sense of power
  • Usual target audience is young adults, usually male based as there's lots of action
  • Setting is usually a battlefield of some sort - bunkers, trenches
  • Plot is mainly about a battle on land/sea, usually focus on people who do military training and operations and victims of war
  • Sometimes war films show life behind the war or society during war but will not feature battle scenes
  • War stories can vary from historical stories, fictional stories, biographical or documentary
  • Conventionally there is often explosions, shootings, fast pace low music, destruction and damage, wounds and injuries
  • The trailer usually establishes the hero (often a soldier) and the plot follows their journey into battle
  • War films are quite clear on the good and the bad as a viewer in the trailer we can probably pick up on this very quickly
